From Banking to the World of Crypto

Soon into his career as a young economist for the Government, David realised his passion lay in macroeconomics. He left, and spent the next 18 years in macro sales and trading roles at HSCBC, RBS, RBC and Lehman Brothers.

But why would a traditional banking man ever enter the wild west of crypto?

Well, the crash of Lehman Brothers was the biggest bankruptcy in history. And David was there. He watched as central banks worldwide printed their way out of the great financial crisis, and realised they had trapped themselves.

Instead of letting the system reset, they kicked the can further down the road, making the problem even bigger, and forever requiring more printing to stop the collapse of the financial system.

This has huge negative effects on society, but David didn’t know what the solution was.

But then in 2009, a new decentralised internet money launched, Bitcoin. It sparked the idea that maybe we could migrate to a new system. Maybe there was backdoor...

As David watched more crypto protocols being built, he soon realised that this could transform every area of business, finance, and society. And he wanted to be a part of it. It was time to switch careers...

So, he started working for Paradigm, an institutional liquidity network for crypto derivatives. He is Head of Institutional Sales, building out the business across Europe and producing macroeconomics and crypto-focused research.

It is with this backdrop that we are thrilled to announce that he will be bringing his wealth of experience and knowledge to CowShed. Not only will he will be speaking, he will also be holding a macro workshop for the lucky attendees.
